An Award-Winning Non-ProfitYour Dog's Friend is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose goal is to help keep dogs out of shelters by educating and supporting their humans. We believe that fewer dogs will be given up to shelters if we can help people understand what their dogs need and how their dogs learn.
Your Dog’s Friend is a proud recipient of funding from Maddie's Fund®, a national family foundation established by Dave and Cheryl Duffield to revolutionize the status and well-being of companion animals. We will be using our Maddie's Fund® grant to professionally videotape, edit, and post some of our workshops, so we can reach more people and help more dogs. #ThanksToMaddie.
We have manners, puppy, behavior, sports, play, and kids classes.
Our free behavior and training workshops are presented by local positive trainers and other pet professionals. Monthly workshops for adopters too!
We can help you with behavior and training issues, referrals, and resources. Our website and newsletters include articles and advice.
We are here to offer guidance and support.
Why positive training?
Our instructors are experienced trainers who understand dog behavior and use only force-free, positive training.
Other local trainers will tell you that your dog needs "correction."
In contrast, our training is humane, effective, and helps build a trusting relationship between you and your dog. Training can be fun!
Why It Matters
Your Dog's Friend is a 501(c)(3) non-profit established to address three issues:
- After adopting a dog, people have questions or concerns.
- Dogs are often returned to shelters for problems that could have been prevented or that could still be remedied.
- Dog parents need better education, so they don’t contribute to their dog’s behavior issues.
Our goal is to help you provide a forever home.
